A two part poetry group that encourages the participant to explore poems without fear.
No experience necessary!  Supplies Included.

Bookmaking with Esther Smith

In this workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to make their own book!  Please bring a pair of sharp scissors and materials to decorate your book such as pens, pencils, collage materials, and rubber stamps.  If you have a glue stick or brush for wheat paste, please feel free to bring that too.  All other materials will be provided. Ms. Smith will be available to sign her books at the end of the workshop.  Books will be available for purchase.

Johanna G. Martinez is a social worker, educator and certified poetry therapist.  She enjoys bringing poetry to a wide audience.

Esther K Smith, editor and designer at Purgatory Pie Press, is the author of three books for Random House imprint, Potter Craft: HOW TO MAKE BOOKS, MAGIC BOOKS & PAPER TOYS, and forthcoming, THE PAPER BRIDE (New Years, 2010) .  Her works are also collected by Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum and the National Gallery.

A member of the New York Mycology Society, Victor Weiss first became interested in wild edibles and gardening over 26 years ago. He has conducted several wild mushroom tours in Northern NJ and wild edibles field trips for school children and staff alike.

John Ameroso has been working in the fields of horticulture and agricultural production since 1964. In 1976, he piloted the Urban Gardening Program with Cornell University Cooperative Extension, successfully setting the groundwork for Extension education in urban horticulture and food production for New York City.

Join us for Drawing Classes taught by NYC artist Barbara Slitkin. Using all our senses we will glean the abundant energy that the garden provides.
Creativity will be encouraged as we tune in on the rhythms, fragrances, sights, and sounds sourced majestically from Creation herself. As your intuitive advisor, nature will inspire your creative projects. Practical tools and instructional games will be offered as a guide for your own expressive drawings.
